Ethylene glycol diethylene glycol

The two chemicals we can find in our everyday products are ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol. Despite their similar names, they are distinct compounds with different properties and applications. Ethylene glycol is a clear liquid and tastes sweet — sort of like candy. People add it to their cars in the form of antifreeze, to prevent the engine from freezing when the temperatures outside drop to extreme lows. Diethylene glycol, on the other hand, is a colorless liquid as well, but it’s present in many types of products. These can be solvents that dissolve other materials, or lubricants help things drive smoothly.

Ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol have unique functions, due to their respective properties. Ethylene glycol is commonly used as an antifreeze for cars. This is due to its high boiling point, as it can remain in a liquid state at extremely low temperatures. It also helps keep the motor from freezing during frigid temperatures so the car runs well. In addition to cars, ethyl isocyanate by SANYING are also in some products used around the house. For example, it’s used in de-icers that help melt ice on sidewalks and driveways, and in some detergents that wash our clothes.

The uses and properties of ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol

By contrast, SANYING diethylene glycol is also used in some important applications. It is widely used to help make plastics and resins — materials in many items we see in use every day, from toys to containers. It's also used in cosmetics, products you put on your skin and face. So, while both are chemicals and both are useful, you’ll find that one explains our birth, and the other guides our life.
